THE FARM - PHOTOS
The Farm
S.Thomas’ College,
Gurutalawa, started with a Farming background in that it was initially
a Farm and the College was cited there due exigent circumstances. So
the Farm was an integral part of the set-up and continued to be so.
Agriculture is taught as a subject and the farm is helpful in the practical
side of instruction.
The Poultry section provides sufficient chicken and eggs to the Boarders
while the Fresh Milk output from the Farm Cows is sufficient for the
their needs. Goats and Ducks are also raised and adds variety.
The large area of land is used for vegetable cultivation and again provides
fresh vegetables for the boarders. But in this area, it is not still
self sufficient, but this supplementary output reduces the college expenses.
