SWIMMING POOL RESTORED
Within
the constraint of limited finances vis-a-vis immediate needs, it is a
pleasure to state that the Swimming Pool has been restored for regular
use - thanks to M.P.D.Perera for the donation of the scrubber. In fact
the House Swimming Meet was held on the 3rd August 2007, and was a
great success. Sports and Games are being put in place in other areas
too but lack of equipment has been a severe set back. We are grateful to
STC., Mt. Lavinia who donated some used material to the best extent they
can, to keep things going at Guru. Even secondhand is a blessing just
now - we are not choosers - cannot afford that luxury.
Now that we have over 500 students, we need to keep the momentum flowing
to give the students a better environment and sports training. Students
need to give vent to their extra energies in the form of sports and
exercise, so that they will not be forced to spend their energy on
extraneous and useless activities - the devil finds work for idle hands
! Discipline can be maintained easier with a busy schedule.
The
College looks forward to any donations of Sports Materials or any
donations of funds for specific named sport of your choice.
